I was lucky enough to stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in La Jolla, Ca and I felt like a pampered princess. As a birthday present to my mother, sister, and myself, my cousin treated us to a night at the Hyatt and an incredible dinner at Mister A’s in downtown San Diego. The three of us all celebrate our birthdays in the same week, so if on the rare chance we’re all together it’s always fun to do a one big celebration together.
The Hyatt is known as the “Toaster and Blender” building near the Mormon temple. I’m not sure if it’s a true fact, but the urban legend is that the two buildings are designed after the appliances. While, that might not seem super fancy, the two buildings in question are absolutely a treat to stay in.
The beds were extremely comfy, the bathroom had a large bathtub and giant counter. The views were unmatchable, and the breakfast was done in a European style. Absolutely would recommend this as a place to stay whether you’re doing a solo trip, or with a partner.
Mister A’s is a San Diego treasure. You cannot match a combination of perfect drinks, food, or skyline. It’s old world San Diego, and it’s been a part of my family since the beginning. It’s a place I feel like I carrying on a tradition for my mother’s side, and opening up the newcomers to a true treat and experience.
If you go, absolutely ask for a table near a window and get an old fashioned. There is a long list of delicious cocktails and wine, but believe me, get the old fashioned.
